Life after Leaky
Woah. Well that was a whirlwind.
I can’t wait to tell you guys about it. Seriously…after both Ascendio and Leaky Con all I wanted to do is share my stories and experiences with you guys. And trust me, y’all..I will share. This summer has been too special to not spread the love and news to y’all, my tumblr fam.
First things first, cause I know y’all are dying to know. Will AVPSY be on the youtubes. Here’s my honest answer after being in the thick of it for the past week: I don’t know. Honestly! I don’t even think the Lang bros know themselves. And here’s why:
This script, in my opinion, was the best work that has ever come out of Matt Lang’s brain. I’ve been involved with this man-boy since 2007, and I have seen him grow as a writer, comedian, and person. The work he shelled out this go-round was a deeply personal and hysterical piece of theatre. Matt wove in bits of his soul to this story, and it saddens me that we don’t foresee staging a real production version of AVPSY.
Now to youtubes. So because we had 48 hours to rehearse and 6 hours to rehearse with Darren, a bunch of feel that we gave our audiences a stellar look into A Very Starkid Rehearsal. Moments were rushed or dragged out. Beats were dropped. There was this bit with a tie…all in all, lots of mistakes were made. Its a funny battle, because while this was the best most heartfelt product from Team Starkid (In my opinion…), we can never bring it to a 100%! So what’s better…putting our less polished piece up for the fans? Or honoring the story and only releasing clips? We don’t know yet. Its all up to the Lang brothers, and honestly… I usually find out things only a couple days before the news goes public. So that’s, that, really…
But hey! I’ve got some more exciting news. Evy and I are mounting a website in collaboration with the HPA called Living the Lovegood Life. The website is a place where we will show bits of our life, struggles, moments of growth and downfall, and celebrate what it means to be a collection of quirks and imperfections. We will have a section of the site where we’ll be able to connect to you. We’ll be answering questions, takings risks, filming videos, interviewing you…the whole shebang! My goal in the next year is to be invited back at these cons for our website and not just because of my involvement in Team Starkid.
So there’s my spiel. I can’t wait to hear from yall. Did anyone go to Leaky? Tell me about your experience!
